RR2482-D. Great Hammerhead Shark (Sphyrna mokarran). Note gray tag at base of dorsal fin. This acoustic tag was attached by scientists from the Sharklab (Bimini Biological Field Station). It transmits an acoustic signal which will be recorded by an array of receivers positioned around Bimini Island, allowing Sharklab researchers to monitor near shore local movement patterns of these elusive sharks about which we currently know very little. Bahamas, Atlantic Ocean.<br />
