Sand Tiger Sharks (Carcharias taurus) swim through baitfish 100 feet deep above the shipwreck of the Atlas, a 450-foot long oil tanker which sank in 1942 during World War II when torpedoed by a German U boat. Fearsome in appearance but not aggressive, sand tigers pose no threat to divers unless provoked. They grow to 10.5 feet long and are found in Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans. North Carolina, USA, Atlantic Ocean.<br />
