TP0191-Dr. Sand Tiger Shark (Carcharias taurus) swimming inside the shipwreck of the Aeolus, a 409-foot long tanker sunk on purpose in 1988 to create an artificial reef. Colorful gorgonians grow between the decks, a favorite place for the sharks and fish to aggregate. Ovoviviparous reproductive mode, and embryophagous. After having developed inside eggs in the uterus and cannibalizing their siblings for nourishment, the two strongest pups are born live at about 3 feet long after a 8-10 month gestation period.
