Sand Tiger Shark (Carcharias taurus) swims through baitfish above the shipwreck of the Atlas, a 450-foot long oil tanker which sank in 1942 during World War II, torpedoed by a German U boat. Over 2000 ships have sunk off the North Carolina coast as a result of weather and war. This area often referred to as the Graveyard of the Atlantic. Many of the wrecks are aggregation sites for these sharks. North Carolina, USA, Atlantic Ocean.<br />
