TP0623-Dm. Sand Tiger Shark (Carcharias taurus), large female swimming through baitfish near a shipwreck. Females are larger than males and often show small scars and wounds near their gills and along flanks, a result of the males biting them during mating. Feed primarily at night, with sharp re-curved teeth helping to catch and hold slippery fish and squid prey. North Carolina, USA, Atlantic Ocean. Rope in top left center digitally removed.<br />
