sand tiger shark photos

TP0590-D. Sand Tiger Shark (Carcharias taurus) surrounded by baitfish near a shipwreck, a scuba diver (model released) with underwater camera behind. Some sharks bear spots on their skin. Females are larger than males and often show small scars and wounds near their gills and along flanks, a result of the males biting them during mating. Feed primarily at night, with sharp re-curved teeth helping to catch and hold slippery fish and squid prey. North Carolina, USA, Atlantic Ocean.<br />
