TC0266-Dv. Blue Whale (Balaenoptera musculus) underwater, curious 50-foot-long subadult looks into the camera. Feeds on krill and other small crustaceans such as copepods, swallows huge clouds of the tiny invertebrates and then strains out water by using the baleen plates hanging from top jaw. Found throughout the world in polar and temperate seas, usually solitary or in pairs though sometimes in large aggregations at feeding grounds. Pacific Ocean. Cropped to vertical from native horizontal format.<br />
